Free Agent Hits: Kadri, Read, Hodgson, Boedker, Johansson, Pietrangelo, Eminger and Bang
  • Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun: Maple Leafs RFA Nazem Kadri won’t be talking about contract talks “until the deal gets done.” He did say that “negotiations are continuing and the lines of communication are open”. Assistant GM Claude Loiselle (handling most of the talks) added, “We’re talking, we’re going back and forth, but historically, we don’t comment on specifics.”
  • Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post: Flyers Matt Read is entering the last year of his deal and will get a nice raise from the $900,000. He would like to stay with the Flyers.

“I would love to stay here,” Read said. “Philadelphia’s obviously a great market to play hockey in. It’s a great bunch of guys here.

“If it comes down to the line, I would fight for everyone in our locker room. I enjoy being here and I’d love to stay here for longer if the right opportunity presents itself.”

  • Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News: Sabres Cody Hodgson is looking for a long-term, big money contract. The Sabres would prefer giving Hodgson a ‘bridge’ contract, maybe something similar to Tyler Ennis’s two-year, $5.6 million deal from 2012.
  • Sarah McLellan of the AZ Central: Coyotes RFA Mikkel Boedker is still looking for a new deal.

“There’s still time before camp starts,” said Assistant General Manager Brad Treliving, who is handling the negotiations with Boedker’s agent, Jarrett Bousquet. “There’s still time before we play games that count for points. We’d like to get it done. It’s not done, but we’ll continue to sort of grind away at it here.”

If they don’t have a deal done by September 11th, he won’t be able to participate in the start of their training camp.

  • Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington: Capitals RFA Marcus Johansson is thought to be looking for an extension worth more than Rangers Carl Hagelin signed, two-years and $4.5 million. The Capitals have 21 players signed with just under $2.665 million salary cap space available.
  • Jeff Gordon of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Blues Alex Pietrangelo is still looking for a new deal. Gordon looks at some player contracts. Drew Doughty: $56 million over eight years. Erik Karlsson: $45.5 million over seven years. Tyler Myers: $38.5 million over seven years. Zach Bogosian: $36 million over seven years. Oliver Ekman-Larson: $33 million over six years. P.K. Subban: $5.75 million over two years. If they go long-term, Pietrangelo could fall between Doughty and Myers, maybe in the Karlsson range.
  • Igor Eronko: Former Rangers defenseman Steve Eminger has agreed to terms with Admiral of the KHL, pending a physical.
  • Igor Eronko: Predators RFA Daniel Bang signed one-year deal with Lausanne of the Swiss league.
