Free Agent Hits: Pietrangelo, Stepan, Henrique and Bobrovsky
  • Mark Masters: Blues RFA defenseman Alex Pietrangelo: “I’m not even thinking about holding out. I’m thinking about training camp & being there.”
  • Steve Zipay of Newsday: Rangers RFA center Derek Stepan gave no indication that he’ll hold out and not attend training camp.

    “I don’t expect either side expects me not to be ,” Stepan said in his first public comments on the negotiations this summer during the first day of the U.S. National Team’s orientation camp. “Both sides are working at finding the right number and a fair deal . . . I don’t think anybody wants it to stretch out longer than it should.”

    The Rangers have offered him a two-year “bridge contract.” The Rangers are about $2.1 million below the salary cap, and that is with eight defenseman and 14 forwards.

  • Rsport.ru: Blue Jackets Sergei Bobrovsky had “high level” talks with SKA, but the NHL was the best career option “by far.” SKA reportedly offered Bobrovsky $10 million a season. The offer has never been confirmed, but back in June, team executive Alexander Medvedev said it was “an excellent offer.”
