Free agent notes on Subban, Del Zotto, Perry, Pandolfo and Barker
  • Nick Kypreos via twitter: Yesterday was a key decision day on which direction the Canadiens will take on the P.K. Subban negotiations. A big commitment needs to be made to get him into camp on Sunday.
  • Dave Stubbs via twitter: Negotiations between P.K. Subban’s agent, Don Meehan, and Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin were ongoing yesterday. Meehan will keep Subban in the loop for the next 24-48 hours when there is something concrete. Subban said that he won’t be at the Canadiens medicals . Louis Jean via twitter: Meehan on Subban contract talks: “More discussions planned this weekend.” Dave Stubbs via twitter: Meehan on a rumored 4 year, $22 million deal for Subban:  “Nothing could be further from the truth & I capitalize all of that”
  • The Fourth Period: It is believed that the Ducks may have to trade one of Ryan Getzlaf or Corey Perry if the Ducks are not in a playoff run by the trade deadline. Both will be UFA’s at the end of the season. Perry has expressed his interest in remaining in Anaheim, but contract talks haven’t started yet. One of Perry’s agents, Mark Guy, doesn’t expect to have any talks until after the season starts. Perry could sign up to an 8 year deal with Anaheim, and could look for a salary in the $7 million range.
  • Ben Kuzma via twitter: Canucks coach Vigneault confirms that UFA defenseman Cam Barker has accepted a PTO.
