Injury Notes: Anderson, Downie, Stoll, Smith, Handzus and Merrill
  • Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Senators goalie Craig Anderson was taken off the ice on a stretcher after being run into by Stars Valeri Nichushkin in overtime.

    “My expectation is yes (Anderson will be out) but right now I can’t say how much (time) he (will miss),” said MacLean. “My expectation is that we play Tuesday and he wouldn’t play.”

  • John Shannon: Anderson was walking around outside the Senators locker room after the game. James Gordon: Was walking with no obvious discomfort. Ian Mendes: Coach Paul MacLean said that Anderson has a stiff neck and “everything else seems to be fine.”
  • Frank Seravalli: Flyers Steve Downie was released from hospital yesterday.
  • Dennis Bernstein: Kings Jarret Stoll is day-to-day with an upper-body injury that has been bothering him for awhile.
  • Ansar Khan of MLive: Red Wings Brendan Smith injured his shoulder on Saturday night in a fight with Oilers Will Acton. He’ll be out one to two weeks. Adam Almquist has been recalled.
  • Tracey Myers: Blackhawks Michael Handzus skated yesterday morning. Scott Powers: Coach Joel Quenneville isn’t sure when Handzus will be ready to return.
  • Tom Gulitti: Devils defenseman Jon Merrill left last night’s game (his 1st NHL game) with facial lacerations and a possible concussion.
