Injury notes involving Pronger, Malkin, Pacioretty, Ennis, Carter, Methot, Martinek, Connolly, and Bozak

  • Tim Panaccio via twitter: Flyers GM Paul Holmgren said that Chris Pronger will be on bed rest for 3 days and hopes to return to the team in about 10 days. There is swelling around the right eye after taking a high stick last night against the Maple Leafs. Sam Carchidi via twitter: Carchidi is reporting that the Flyers will make Pronger wear a visor when he returns. Sam Carchidi via twitter: The Flyers eye doctor examined Pronger last night, and the two will spend a lot of time together over the next 4 days.
  • Josh Yohe of the Pittsburgh  Tribune-Review: Penguins center Evgeni Malkin could return tonight against the Islanders. Coach Dan Bylsma added, “(Malkin) is still not ruled in or out for (today’s) game.”
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: The extent of Max Pacioretty injury won’t be known till (today). Montreal is calling it an upper-body injury, McKenzie hearing an arm or wrist. Brian Wilde via twitter:  Wilde is hearing that it is serious.
  • Miguel Rodrguez of the Buffalo News: Sabres forward Tyler Ennis is ‘week-to-week’ with an ankle sprain. Ville Leino will move over to left wing. Brad Boyes worked on the power play unit with Thomas Vanek and Jason Pominville.
  • Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: Blue Jackets forward Jeff Carter won’t be in the lineup against the Red Wings as his fractured right foot is still too painful to boot up and skate. Defenseman Marc Methot and Radek Martinek are also out. Martinek could be gone a while.
  • Rob Longley via twitter: Maple Leafs coach Ron Wilson said that Tim Connolly and Tyler Bozak are both likely to be back on Thursday against the Rangers.
