Injury Notes: Lightning, Blue Jackets, Rangers, Wild, Canucks, Leafs and Panthers
  • Damian Cristodero: Lightning’s Steven Stamkos said his x-rays looked really good but added “we’re playing it smart.” Erik Erlendsson: Stamkos has not been cleared to play on their upcoming road trip. They are now targeting a March 6th return against the Sabres.
  • Aaron Portzline: The Blue Jackets put Fedur Tyutin on the IR. He should miss one to two weeks. Questions will be: who is paired with Jack Johnson and how are the other pairings are affected? The Blue Jackets have some depth on the blueline, but his loss will hurt.
  • Steve Zipay: Rangers Marc Staal didn’t practice yesterday, the third day in a row. Presumably out with back spasms.
  • Chad Graff: Wild’s Mikko Koivu (ankle surgery) and Nino Niederreiter (Olympics) were both practicing with the team yesterday.
  • Brad Ziemer: Canucks GM Mike Gillis said that Ryan Kesler is a little banged up from the last two games at the Olympics, “We have to see how he is.”
  • David Alter: Maple Leafs Dave Bolland wouldn’t say if he’ll be returning on Thursday or not, only saying that he’s progressing.
  • Harvey Fialkov: Panthers coach Harachek said that Aleksander Barkov and Tomas Kopecky are out indefinitely, probably weeks.
  • Jeremy Rutherford: Blues associate coach, Brad Shaw, said that Vladimir Sobotka may try skating this week. He’s not close to returning.
