  • Carolina Hurricanes: Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward will be out six to eight weeks after he was diagnosed with a third-degree sprain to his MCL. Surgery is not required. Bob McKenzie via twitter: The Hurricanes will run with a Dan Ellis and Justin Peters tandem while Ward is out.
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: Panthers goalie Jose Theodore will be out at least six weeks with a groin injury. More evaluation to come.
  • Hockey Central: Maple Leafs Joffrey Lupul practiced yesterday for the first time since breaking his arm.
  • Frank Seravalli via twitter: It doesn’t seem like Flyers Matt Read will be out for another four to five weeks. He’s skating in regular jersey and participating in cycling drills.
  • Ansar Khan via twitter: Red Wings Valtteri Filppula is expected to miss at least the next two games with his shoulder injury. He is still not skating.
