- David Staples of the Edmonton Journal: Oilers prospect Oscar Klefbom’s season could be over according to Swedish reporter Johan Eriksson.
“Klefbom will undergo surgery which means his season is over,” Eriksson reports on Twitter. “Should be in Edmonton right now actually.”
- George Richards of the Miami Herald: Panthers Erik Gudbranson had his first on-ice workout since September, and said “this is tough.” Gudbranson had been out with a shoulder injury. He did add that,
“It felt really good to be out there. I’m a little surprised at how good it felt.”
“Things are coming along. The training staff I’ve been working out with at home are great. This is a tough thing, but I’m excited about it getting better.”
He’s still on a January timetable, and will join the Panthers AHL team in San Antonio when he’s ready to go. Gudbranson originally got hurt falling while wakeboarding, and told GM Dale Tallon that alcohol was involved. He had called each of teammates to tell them what had happened.
- Aaron Portzline via twitter: Blue Jackets prospect Ryan Murray will meet with GM Scott Howson this morning to discuss their options with regards to his shoulder injury. Surgery is an option.
- Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Penguins Sidney Crosby hasn’t decided on a team or country yet, but the odds of him playing overseas have increased of late.
“You know what? It’s a lot more possible right now,” Crosby said after a player-organized workout at Southpointe. “I probably hadn’t thought about it quite as much as I have the past few days.
“It’s definitely been something … with the way things are looking now, it’s not looking too good.”

- Erik Erlendsson via twitter: Steven Stamkos’ agent said yesterday that Stamkos has no plans on going overseas to play.
- Szymon Szemberg via twitter: Islanders John Tavares’ deal with SC Bern expires in four days. He’s expected to have the deal extended.
