Morning Hits: Blues, Barrie, Coyotes, Hedberg and Biron
  • Jeremy Rutherford: Before Alex Pietrangelo’s press conference, GM Doug Armstrong, coach Ken Hitchcock and Pietrangelo were standing in a circle talking. Armstrong jokingly said: “This might be the best team I’ve ever been associated with and the only thing that can screw it up is coaching.”
  • Adrian Dater: Avs coach Patrick Roy said that defenseman Tyson Barrie would be used in a top-four role to start the season, barring a bad rest of camp.
  • Sarah McLellan: Coyotes coach Dave Tippett expects to have their camp roster down to 40 by Tuesday.
  • Larry Brooks of the NY Post: If Johan Hedberg beats out Martin Biron for the Rangers backup, they could look to trade Biron rather than taking on the extra $375,000 salary cap for sending him the AHL.
