Morning Hits: Liles, Wilson and the Capitals, hybrid icing, Commodore, Eminger and Belanger
  • James Mirtle: Trading John-Michael Liles would obviously help the Maple Leafs cap issues, but if it were possible, Mirtle thinks it would have happened already.
  • Chuck Gormley of CSN Washington: If Tom Wilson makes the Capitals, they will have to move someone, with Mathieu Perreault (1 year, $1.05 million) or Aaron Volpatti (2 years, $575,000) as possible candidates. The Capitals tried Martin Erat at center yesterday. GM George McPhee has talked to teams about potential trades. Perreault is most likely tradable, with Jason Chimera maybe getting some interest. Chimera is in the last year of his deal at $1.75 million.
  • Chuck Gormley: The NHLPA has started voting on hybrid icing, and from what Gormley is hearing, it will likely be voted down.
  • Igor Eronko: Mike Commodore will play for Vladivostok of the KHL. Steve Eminger has an offer from another KHL team.
  • Francois Gagnon: Eric Belanger is leaving Automobilist of the KHL, was home sick.
