Morning notes on: Nash, Bernier, Rangers, Doan, Flyers, Penguins, Red Wings, Visnovsky and Semin
  • Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: Trade talks involving Rick Nash are ongoing, but not that productive. If Weber ends up with the Flyers, the Rangers may step up. Though the Rangers could turn to a Bobby Ryan trade or look to sign Shane Doan. The Blue Jackets have talked to the Kings about Jonathan Bernier. They might have to send the Kings 2013 1st round pick back to the Kings to get him. The Blue Jackets are close to a deal with Ryan Murray.
  • Larry Brooks of the NY Post: If the Flyers get Weber, the Rangers need to get Rick Nash increases. It doesn’t mean that GM Geln Sather would yield to Howson’s demand of including Derek Stepan. Shane Doan toured the Rangers practice facility on Friday. The Rangers are believed to the favorite in landing Doan if he leaves Phoenix. It’s on Sather’s blueprint to land both Doan and Nash.
  • Josh Yohe via twitter: Shane Doan’s agent:  “Shane is going to visit a couple more teams. I’m pretty sure Pittsburgh will be one of them. He is interested in the Pens.”
  • Ansar Khan of MLive: Red Wings GM Ken Holland said yesterday that he hopes to meet face-to-face with Shane Doan. Doan has met with the Rangers and Flyers already, he agent said he’ll likely meet with the Penguins and a couple more teams. The Canucks, Sharks, Kings and Sabres are also said to be interested in Doan.
  • Matias Strozyk via twitter: Lubomir Visnovsky told Sport.sk that he might file for arbitration after he was traded to the Islanders, who weren’t on his 10 team trade list. Might end up back with the Ducks. Visnovsky also said that Islanders GM Garth Snow once called him to say they were negotiating with Miro Satan.
  • Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer: Hurricanes GM Jim Rutherford said on Friday that they have had talks with Alexander Semin. The Hurricanes are only interested if Semin signs a 1 year contract. Semin is said to asking for $7 million or more a year.
