Morning Rumors: Vanek, Kings, Senators-Panthers, Tennessee Tax and MacDonald
  • Bruce Garrioch: Thomas Vanek said that he never discussed a new deal with the Sabres. No offer was made.
  • David Pagnotta: The Kings tried to make a trade to clear up room for Linden Vey. Ended up putting Keaton Ellerby on waivers to send to the AHL.
  • Kirk Luedeke: Trade talks between the Senators and Panthers? A young forward/scorer could be heading to Ottawa with a defenseman and/or goaltender going to Florida. Don’t make too many assumptions, the scoring forward may not be a “now” player but a projected scorer. Players may not be on their NHL rosters.
  • Aaron Ward: The NHLPA is looking to sue the state of Tennessee and get reimbursement for a tax that players have to pay each time they play a game in Nashville. The state introduced the tax in 2009. Players pay $2500 with an annual cap of $7500 under a “Professional Privilege Tax.” The PA believes it’s unfair and maybe unconstitutional.
