News: Canucks Sign Chris Tanev To Five-Year Extension

The Vancouver Canucks have signed Chris Tanev to a five-year contract extension worth $22.25 million, a $4.45 million cap hit. The deal includes a limited no-trade clause.

The 25-year old defenseman signed a free agent out of Rochester Institute of Technology. He carries a $2 million cap hit this season.

The Canucks now have four defensemen locked up for next season: Alex Edler a $5 million cap hit, Kevin Bieksa at $4.6 million and Dan Hamhuis at $4.5 million. They have pending RFAs in Luca Sbisa, Yannick Weber, Ryan Stanton, Adam Clendening and Frank Corrado.
