On the Dallas Stars …

Mike Heika: Patrick Sharp practiced today with teammates for the first time since suffering a concussion. He is not expected to play, but it is a good sign he’s able to practice.

Mark Stepneski: Coach Lindy Ruff on Patrick Sharp.

“It’s a step in the right direction and some light at the end of the tunnel for him. He’s feeling better. Hopefully we can get him two or three practices and he can be ready possibly for Sunday.”

Mike Heika: Jiri Hudler is still out with an illness and is not with the team on their road trip.

On the Carolina Hurricanes …

Chip Alexander: Coach Bill Peters said that Justin Faulk skated on his own before yesterday’s practice

On the Calgary Flames …

Calgary Flames: Matthew Tkachuk didn’t play last night due to a hand injury, and is day-to-day according to coach Glen Gulutzan.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Tracey Myers: Artem Anisimov is questionable for tomorrow’s game.

On the Buffalo Sabres …

Buffalo Sabres: Forward Tyler Ennis had groin surgery and will be out for several weeks.

Amy Mortiz: Forward Jack Eichel skated yesterday, but he’s still weeks away from returning to the lineup.

Paul Hamilton: Defenseman Dmitry Kulikov was given a maintenance day yesterday and is day-to-day. Ryan O’Reilly has a mid-body injury.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Matthew Sekeres: Forward Jannik Hansen will be out four to six weeks with a fractured rib that they say happened from a Morgan Rielly hit.

On the Boston Bruins …

Boston Bruins: Forward Noel Acciari will miss about four weeks with a lower-body injury.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Erik Erlendsson: Jonathan Drouin didn’t practice yesterday and missed his fourth consecutive game.

Bryan Burns: Coach Jon Cooper hopes that Drouin will be able to return soon, but they are not going to rush him:  “It’s all about how he’s feeling. He wants to come back more than anybody,”

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan: Forward Thomas Vanek (on the LTIR with a hip injury) skated before practice yesterday. The earliest he’ll be able to return is Nov. 18th. Tomas Jurco skated yesterday and could be a couple weeks away from returning.

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: Forward Andreas Athanasiou will miss at least one game – Saturday against the Canadiens – with a lower-body injury.
