NHL Injury Updates

Eric Stephens: Anaheim Ducks coach Dallas Eakins didn’t have an update on forward Nick Ritchie. He did say that the lower-body injury “does not look very good.” Ritchie’s knee was mentioned a couple of times.

Eric Stephens: Washington Capitals defenseman Radko Gudas caught Ritchie with a hip check and he went awkwardly into the boards. He was down for a bit before being helped off the ice and was not able to put pressure on the left leg.

Boston Hockey Now: Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said that Patrice Bergeron won’t be ready to return today.

Chip Alexander: Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said that forward Martin Necas likely won’t play today but should be ready to return soon.

Chicago Blackhawks: Defenseman Duncan Keith was placed on the IR retroactive to November 29th. The Blackhawks also put forward Andrew Shaw on the IR retroactive to November 30th.

Chicago Blackhawks: Defenseman Olli Maatta missed last night’s games with flu-like symptoms.

Columbus Blue Jackets: The Blue Jackets have placed defenseman Zach Werenski on the IR retroactive to November 30th.

Werenski injured his shoulder on November 30th and is expected to be out for four weeks.

Arpon Basu: Montreal Canadiens forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi suffered a concussion on Thursday night. He didn’t suffer any other injuries on the play.

New Jersey Devils: Forward Nico Hischier missed last night’s game with an illness.

New York Rangers: Defenseman Libor Hajek suffered a sprained knee and will be out for the next three to four weeks.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Penguins forward Bryan Rust and defenseman Justin Schultz returned to the lineup last night.

Cap Friendly: The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed forward Andreas Johnsson on the LTIR. The Leafs salary pool relief increases to $14,725,000, salary pool usage to $13,457,983, giving them $1,267,017 in LTIR relief.
