Joe Haggerty: Forward Brad Marchand and David Backes returned to the lineup last night.

Boston Bruins: Forward Anders Bjork skated again yesterday and could return on Saturday according to coach Bruce Cassidy.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Eric Engels: Forward Jonathan Drouin didn’t fly with teammates to Detroit last night. He was in the room after last night’s game and was fully available to the media. No more info at this time.

Eric Engels: Defenseman Shea Weber could move to the IR if he doesn’t play tonight in Detroit. The Canadiens are carrying 24 players.

On the New York Islanders …

Arthur Staple: Coach Doug Weight said that Casey Cizikas (lower-body) returning on Friday is unlikely. They are hopeful for next week, but Cizikas is still very sore.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Eric Engels of Sportsnet: Defenseman Chris Wideman will meet with doctors today to determine whether or not he’ll need surgery to repair his torn hamstring. Wideman has been out since November 16th. If surgery is required, it might keep him out for the remainder of the season.

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Jason Mackey: GM Jim Rutherford said that they expect goaltender Matt Murray to be out “two-three weeks” with a lower-body injury.

Jason Mackey: Rutherford on the radio on forward Evgeni Malkin: “I believe he’ll be back soon. Hopefully this weekend.”

On the Washington Capitals …

Bob McKenzie: Defenseman Aaron Ness cleared waivers.
