Isabelle Khurshudyan: The Washington Capitals have signed 2018 first-round pick Alexander Alexeyev to a three-year entry-level deal. Alexeyev has already been assigned to Red Deer of the WHL.

Penguins reassign 18 players
Dan Kingerski of the Pittsburgh Hockey Now: The Pittsburgh Penguins reassigned a bunch of players yesterday. Those that require waivers include Jimmy Hayes, Tobias Lindberg, Garret Wilson, Chris Summers, John Stefan Elliott, Ethan Prow and John Muse.
Players that were reassigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton that don’t require waivers include Thomas Di Pauli, Sam Miletic, Sam Lafferty, Anthony Angello, Linus Ohlund, Ryan Haggerty, Joseph Cramarossa, Will O’Neil and Jeff Taylor.
The Penguins terminated the contract of Freddie Tiffels.

Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: St. Louis Blue forward Robby Fabby suffered an injury, but it’s not related to the knee injury he had last season.
“Lower body injury, not related to the knee,” he said. “I can’t tell you the severity. It’s muscular. … I don’t think it’s going to be anything very serious. But then again, I’m not a doctor. I don’t know.”
