John Boruk: Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall said the Michael Neuvirth will be out for a bit but is not sure for how long. They should have an update at some point today.

Bill Meltzer: During practice yesterday Neuvirth was bent over and was stretching his groin for a long period of time. He slammed his stick on the ice and then skated off.

Flyers sign Zamula to ELC

Ryan Wagman: The Philadelphia Flyers signed undrafted Yegor Zamula to an entry-level contract.

Habs sign Brook to ELC

Arpon Basu: The Montreal Canadiens have signed Josh Brook to a three-year entry-level deal.

Red Wings lose Green to a virus

Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press: The Detroit Red Wings have lost defenseman Mike Green for the beginning of the season because of a virus.

Green had been fatigued so they sent him to the doctors for blood work. The early diagnoses shows a virus attaching his liver.

“We don’t really know the extent of exactly what he has got,” Holland said. “But we are shutting him down pending what information we get from a specialist.”

Dennis Cholowski and Libor Sulak could be the two leading candidates to stick with the Red Wings – two young dmen could start the season with the team). Filip Hronek and Joe Hicketts are two other prospects getting a look.

Coyotes dealing with some early injuries
