Jets to hire Arniel and Bowness okay with being ‘Plan B’

Ken Wiebe: The Winnipeg Jets are bringing Scott Arniel in as an associate coach.

Ken Wiebe: Jets GM Kevin Cheveldayoff said that he interview between 10 and 12 people for the head coaching position. Rick Bowness received their only formal offer.

Mike McIntyre: Bowness said that he had turned down three assistant coaching opportunities and added: “I wasn’t interested in going to a rebuild. I’ve done all that.”

Mike McIntyre: Bowness said that he’s okay with being “Plan B” after the Jets couldn’t land Barry Trotz.

“If I’m in (Kevin Cheveldayoff’s) chair, I’m going after Trotzy too. I am. It’s that simple. Trotzy is the perfect guy for this.”

Still no date for Evander Kane‘s grievance

Pierre LeBrun: There still isn’t a date set for the remainder of Evander Kane’s grievance hearing with the San Jose Sharks.

It’s now doubtful that it happens before the start of free agency on July 13th.

It’s not an ideal situation for anyone. Maybe they could reach a settlement.

Almost 25 years for David Poile

Cap Friendly: The next closest active GM is St. Louis Blues Doug Armstrong at 12 years and days.
