Senators assistant GM resigns

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen: Ottawa Senators assistant GM Randy Lee resigned yesterday as “he awaits the outcome of court proceedings on two non-criminal harassment charges filed against him” from an incident in Buffalo late last season.

He’s been suspended by the team since mid-June and has pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Lee has been with the organization since 1993 and has been an assistant GM since 2014.

Shawn Simpson: “Late August isn’t the time to be searching for a quality AGM. With money being tight, and the Sens overall instability. Nobody of any experience or profile is coming into the current situation. It’s Dorion who’s doing the hiring, he won’t be hiring anyone who might take his job.”

Jets re-sign Kerdiles

Ken Wiebe: The Winnipeg Jets have signed restricted free agent forward Nic Kerdiles to a one-year, two-way contract for $650,000.

Flames sign Peluso

Cap Friendly: The Flames have signed free agent forward Anthony Peluso to a one-year, two-way contract. He’ll get $650,000 in the NHL, $125,000 in the minors with $150,000 guaranteed.

Blue Jackets bring in goalie development coach

George Richards: The Columbus Blue Jackets have brought in Jim Corsi to be their goalie development coach.

Rochester hoping Gionta wants to join the organization

John Vogl: The Rochester Americans of the AHL are hoping that Brian Gionta wants to join the organization as he starts to move on from his playing career. Americans GM Randy Sexton:

“Ultimately, it’s up to Brian. I really do hope that he does come aboard in some capacity. It would be a very positive thing for our organization and I think for him as well. … We’re cautiously optimistic that something will come about.”
