Stephen Whyno: The NHLPA has filed an appeal for Washington Capitals Tom Wilson.

Stephen Whyno:  Commissioner Gary Bettman has had to listen to six appeals since the start of 2012.

Renaud Lavoie: The Winnipeg Jets put defenseman Simon Bourque on unconditional waivers. The Philadelphia Flyers put goaltender Anthony Stolarz on waivers.

Blues make some roster moves

Cap Friendly: The St. Louis Blues have recalled Chris Thorburn and assigned Niko Mikkola to the minors. Oskar Sundqvist moved to the LTIR to make the money work.

Devils sign Stafford

New Jersey Devils: The Devils have signed forward Drew Stafford to a one-year, one-way deal worth $810,000. Stafford had been with the team on a PTO since the start of camp.

Flames lose Hamonic

SportsCentre: Calgary Flames defenseman Travis Hamonic is out week-to-week with a facial fracture from his fight with Vancouver Canucks defenseman Erik Gudbranson.

Derek Wilson: Hamonic had returned to game late in the first period after the fight with Gudbranson. He ended up finishing the game.

Crawford practices again

Mark Lazerus: Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford practiced with the team again yesterday. Goaltender Anton Forsberg was also there.

Bratt has jaw broken

Mike Morreale of NHL.com: New Jersey Devils forward Jesper Bratt will be out for two to three weeks with a broken jaw.

“It was just a freak accident after practice; he was in the corner and there was a shot that went to the net and it hit the crossbar and inadvertently hit him,” coach John Hynes said. “He has a fracture and no surgery is needed, so that’s good news. He should be able to continue his physical activity over the course of that time and he’ll be back ready to go when that time comes.”

Ericsson to miss Red Wings next two games

Ansar Khan: Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jonathan Ericsson will miss both of their games against the Kings and Ducks with his upper-body injury. Defenseman Niklas Kronwall is expected to play in one of the games.

Kiselevich has a ways to go

Jameson Olive: Florida Panthers coach Bob Boughner on Bogdan Kiselevich’s injury: “It’s just still too fresh. They want to make sure he gets his energy back. He’s not eating a lot of solid food right now, those kind of things. He feels decent at practice, but he’s not 85-90% right now. He’s still got a little ways to go.”
