On the Andrew Ladd Fallout …
- Mark Lazerus: Andrew Ladd on if he thinks he can remain with the Blackhawks beyond this season: “I have no clue. There’s a lot of moving parts in that.”
- James Mirtle: Teams started moving on from Ladd when the Jets made it clear they would only take a first round pick and a prospect.
- Brian Wilde: Ladd trade to the Blackhawks should kick start the trade market. The market is set. Other teams realize they have to get busy now.
- Jeff Patterson: With the Canucks adding more offense, the Canucks have to believe that Blackhawks rivals will now need to improve their blueline.
- George Richards: The Panthers were not willing to give up a first round pick and the likes of Mike Matheson.
On the Vancouver Canucks and Chicago Blackhawks …
- Jason Botchford of the Vancouver Province: (before the Blackhawks traded for Andrew Ladd – still somewhat relevant because of Hamhuis) If the Canucks were to move both Dan Hamhuis and Radim Vrbata, it wouldn’t be for a current NHL player from Botchford’s understanding. The Canucks would probably need to retain some salary.The Canucks want to acquire some young defensemen. Blackhawks prospect Ville Pokka could be one option. He should be NHL ready next year.
On the Vancouver Canucks …
- Pierre LeBrun: Still unsure if Dan Hamhuis is willing to waive his no-trade clause. If he’s willing, thinking the Blackhawks and Stars will be interested.
- TSN Radio Vancouver: Dan Hamhuis said that he hasn’t been asked to waive his no-trade clause, and doesn’t have a list that he’d waive it for.
On the Minnesota Wild …
- Chad Graff: Wild GM Chuck Fletcher: “We’re not looking to sell. We expect to make the playoffs.”
- Chad Graff: The Wild are open to the rental market, but the market is weak. Fletcher said he’s fine with their current roster.
