On the Calgary Flames …

Darren Dreger: There have been some talk the past few days about a potential Dougie Hamilton trade. One team asked the Flames about him and were told that they weren’t interested in trading him.

Chris Nichols: Bob McKenzie on TSN 1260: “I get conflicting reports. What I hear in Calgary is Dougie Hamilton is not available. Other people think he is.”

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Chris Hine: Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville: “The way it looks is we’re going to need a lot of young guys or some inexpensive free agents (in the lineup).”

On the St. Louis Blues …

St. Louis Blues: GM Doug Armstrong said that he will start long-term contract extension talks with Jake Allen.  “He’s the goalie of today and of the future.”

Lou Korac: A source saying the Blues and Oilers were talking about Kevin Shattenkirk. The Oilers were offering Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and the Blues were asking for either Taylor Hall or Jordan Eberle.

On Pavel Datsyuk …

Darren Dreger: The Red Wings trade of Pavel Datsyuk was made so they could take a run at Steven Stamkos. The Panthers had shown some interest in taking on Datsyuk’s contract, but they wanted the Red Wings to take on Dave Bolland‘s contract.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Brian Lawton: Martin Hanzal is another player that could be on the move. Several teams have talked to the Coyotes about him.

Craig Morgan: The Coyotes still have five RFAs that they need to re-sign. The would like to add a right-handed defenseman and re-sign Shane Doan. Do they have room now?

On the Minnesota Wild …

Dan Rosen: Wild GM Chuck Fletcher said that they now have the cap space to add another players – a top center or winger is needed.

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

Aaron Portzline: With the Blue Jackets needing salary cap space, trading Sergei Bobrovsky‘s $7.425 million for the next three years would really help.
