  • Chris Johnston: Red Wings assistant coach Bill Peters has already been interviewed by the Panthers and could be in the running for the Penguins head coaching position.
  • Hope Smoke: Darren Dreger: “R.Wilson could potentially be a good fit for Pitt. If you look at his history he’s coached good teams & good players. Elite players” …  “The same might apply to Marc Crawford. The people who know Crawford well say he’s changed in his time away from the NHL” … “Crawford isn’t less demanding but it’s my understanding is that he’s less confrontational”
  • William DePaoli: The Penguins would like to interview Ulf Samuelsson, but there could be a conflict of interest with his son being in the organization. Samuelsson is undecided if he’ll pursue the Penguins job or not.
  • Hope Smoke: Bob McKenzie: “The Florida media is reporting that the Panthers job is down to Crawford, Bylsma and Gallant” … “That situation seems to be winding itself down. Tallon would like someone by the end of this week or the beginning of next week”
  • Adam Proteau: Although there isn’t a hard deadline to hire their new assistant coaches, the Leafs hope to have them hired by the draft.
  • Hope Smoke: Darren Dreger: “I believe and most believe that Samuelsson will get the head coaching job in Carolina”
  • Iain MacIntyre: Canucks GM Jim Benning has talked to three head coaching candidates, and plans to speak with four or five others.
