NHL Rumors: Leafs, Avs, Flames, Blues and Rangers
William Nylander of the Toronto Maple Leafs

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Paul Hendrick: Mike Babcock said that William Nylander will be returned to the AHL when Peter Holland is ready to return.

Paul Hendrick: 2012 draft pick Domenic Toninanto is considering going pro.

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Adrian Dater: Think there is a decent chance that the Avs could consider re-signing Mikkel Boedker, but it wouldn’t be to a silly contract.

Adrian Dater: With Nathan MacKinnon, Tyson Barrie and some others needing new contracts, cap situation may mean someone is likely to get traded.

On the Calgary Flames …

Damien Cox: The Flames are trying hard to sign free agent Yale goaltender Alex Lyon. Other teams are tying to sign him as well. The Flames haven’t been informed that they are out. Question for Lyon might be whether he thinks that Jon Gillies and Mason MacDonald might block his way within the Flames organization.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Aivis Kalnins: Sounds like Vladimir Sobotka is finished with the KHL.

On Ilya Kovalchuk …

Aivis Kalnins: Ilya Kovalchuk confirmed yesterday that he will be back with SKA next year. Kovalchuk: “It will be a pleasure for me to play and represent SKA next season”

On the three point game …

Travis Yost: The players wanted to get rid of the three point game, but the GMs like it as it keeps more teams in the playoff race longer.

On the New York Rangers …

Justin Tasch of the NY Daily News: The Rangers are expected to sign top prospect Pavel Buchnevich to an entry level deal soon. He’ll likely join the team at training camp this fall. He won’t join their AHL team in Hartford or the Rangers as it would burn a year of his deal. The only way that he makes his way to Hartford would be if he signed an ATO, but the Rangers don’t expect him to do that.
