Pavel Kubina traded to the Philadelphia Flyers for picks

The Philadelphia Flyers have traded for defenseman Pavel Kubina. The Tampa Bay Lightning will receive a 2012 2nd round pick and a 2013 4th round pick. The 2nd round pick is the pick they got from Florida in the Kris Versteeg deal.

Damian Cristodero via twitter: The Lightning will also receive minor league left winger Jon Kalinski.

The Flyers have made a big statement by grabbing another defenseman over a week before the trade deadline. They added Nicklas Grossman the other day as well.

Dustin Leed via twitter: On Kubina … “Big upgrade… Big body, will be a solid partner. Right handed , A+ shot. Needed for PP.”

The Flyers may not even be done making trades. Dustin Leed has been told that the Flyers look like real contenders for Blue Jackets Rick Nash as of right now.
