Tom Gulitti: Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said again that it’s up to Michael Ferland when he’s able to return from his upper-body injury.

Tom Gulitti: Brind’Amour said they won’t rush goaltender Petr Mrazek back from his lower-body injury. He was on the ice yesterday.

Nash not able to go … Nutivaara is injured

CBJ Public Relations: Blue Jackets forward Riley Nash missed last night’s game with an injury. He’s listed as day-to-day.

Dan Rosen: Columbus Blue Jackets coach John Tortorella said that defenseman Markus Nutivaara is dealing with an injury. He’s been skating but not playing.

Matthews has a procedure

Leafs PR: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Auston Matthews had a procedure done yesterday to remove some surgical hardware from a surgery that he had back in 2014.

His offseason on-ice program won’t be disrupted.

Pierre LeBrun: From understanding there were screws in Matthews leg that were causing back pain.

Late in the season they decided that once the season was over that they’d have the surgery.

They are hoping that this will eliminate his back pain.

Rangers sign two top prospects

New York Rangers: The New York Rangers have signed Adam Fox to an entry-level contract.

Cap Friendly: The Rangers have signed 2018 1st round pick Vitali Kravtsov to a three-year entry-level deal. A $925,000 salary cap hit with an AAV of $1.775 million.

McCrimmon Vegas’ new GM

John Shannon: Kelly McCrimmon is the new GM for the Vegas Golden Knights with George McPhee being the President of Hockey Operations.

McPhee had presented the idea to McCrimmon last Friday and went to ownership with the idea the next day.

David Schoen: McPhee said that he had been thinking about the idea for three to four weeks but put things in motion last week.
