Puljujarvi heading to Europe but has an out clause

Frank Seravalli: Edmonton Oilers restricted free agent Jesse Puljujarvi has signed with Oulu Karpat. The deal includes an NHL out clause until December 1st.

Jonathan Willis of The Athletic: There is no guarantee that Puljujarvi will a game for Karpat.

If he does play for them, it may be a good league to help his development. The league will challenge him but he’s not going to be overwhelmed.

Jets add a depth winger

Ken Wiebe: The Winnipeg Jets have signed left winger Gabriel Bourque to a one-year, two-way contract with an AAV of $700,000 in the NHL and $300,000 in the minors.

Panthers sign an RFA

Cap Friendly: The Florida Panthers have signed restricted free agent Denis Malgin to a one-year, one-way $750,000 deal. He’ll have arbitration rights next offseason.

Pitlick to most of training camp

Sam Carchidi: Philadelphia Flyers forward Tyler Pitlick underwent surgery on his left wrist last week to repair a tear. He was injured during offseason training and will be out for four weeks.

Mattheos undergoing chemo

Carolina Hurricanes: The Hurricanes announced that forward Stelio Mattheos will miss training camp as he finishes his treatments for testicular cancer.

Matteos was diagnosed in June and has been undergoing chemo for the past two months.

Norris cleared for action

Bruce Garrioch: Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris has received clearance for contact and will take part in their rookie tournament.

McDavid’s knee progressing

Mike Zeisberger of NHL.com: Connor McDavid‘s knee injury is progressing well but there is no timetable for his return. He tore his PCL in his left knee in their last game of the season.

He’s been rehabbing to get ready for training camp.

“It’s coming back together and everything like that, but ultimately you don’t want to come back too early,” he said. “(You want to) make sure it’s fully healed and you’re not going to get hurt again.”
