  • Will DePaoli via twitter: Penguins defenseman Zbynek Michalek will be out 2-4 weeks.
  • Pierre LeBrun via twitter: Toni Lydman has been cleared, but not sure when he’ll play his first game for the Anaheim Ducks.
  • Andy Strickland of True Hockey: Stickland is hearing trade whispers involving Patrik Berglund of the St. Louis Blues.
  • Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: With Brian Rolston going on LTIR, it might have ended the talk of a Colorado Avalanche-NJ Devils trade. The Avs could use some power play and/or defensive help. 16 scouts took in Tuesday’s Avs-Wings game. It was rumored a couple weeks ago that the Avs had interest in Jamie Langenbrunner.
  • Brendan Hall of ESPN Boston: Bruins coach Claude Julien says Marc Savard is improving each day, but they won’t rush him along.

“He’s behind by at least a month, month and a half, already. We’ll have to be patient and give him a chance to come back. Right now, I don’t think there’s any reason why we should push this guy to get back, more than we should be helping him get back. That’s the thing we have to make sure we do here, is give him due time to make that comeback, and when he’s ready to make it, we’ll help him through it.”

  • Jesse Spector via twitter: Rangers forward Tim Kennedy would need to go through re-entry waivers if they recalled him. Spector doesn’t think he’d get through re-entry, he also didn’t think he’d get through waivers to begin with.
  • Toronto Sun: The NHLPA is investigating the New Jersey Devils for only using 15 skaters on Monday (used 16 last night), instead of the league minimum of 18. The NHLPA director of communications said, “We are currently reviewing this matter to ensure that the CBA is complied with and that any potential violation of the agreement is remedied,”
