The Penguins have gotten off to a flying start in the Metropolitan Division, having won several opening games. They beat the Coyotes 6-2 in their first game and the Lightning 6-2 in their next game, both of which were at home. They lost their next game 3-2 to the Canadiens, and they beat the Kings 6-1.

On October 23rd, they travel away to play the Blue Jackets, and then they are away to the Oilers on October 25th. They are also away to the Flames on October 26th and away again to the Canucks on October 29th.
